The Bear’s Paw retains AA 5-star status and secures prestigious AA Rosette
One of Cheshire's finest character inns, The Bear's Paw – owned and operated by Nelson Hotels – has retained its 5-star AA status and secured a prestigious AA Rosette in recognition of the venue's outstanding cuisine following a recent inspection by the AA. The awarding of the AA Rosette rounds off a successful time for family owned Nelson Hotels, which has also seen Ciro's Brasserie at The Grosvenor Pulford win an AA Rosette earlier this year.
Following the inspection in March, which involved an overnight stay at The Bear's Paw in Warmingham with its 17 en-suite boutique-style bedrooms, the report glowed with praise for the character inn and its team. The inspector commented: "A thoroughly enjoyable stay at a beautifully presented property where pride is clearly taken in ensuring that the physical standards of quality and the professional, yet friendly service continue to impress. There are many strengths and the key highlights of this stay were the quality and space offered in the room occupied and the food – particularly at dinner, which is worthy of the award of One Rosette. The Bear's Paw continues to achieve Five Stars with a well deserved high score within this band and an 'Inn' designator."
Nelson Hotels Executive Head Chef, Leigh Myers, is delighted to have secured another AA Rosette for a restaurant under his care. Leigh comments: "Our passion is being the best we can be in every respect, from the environment, ambience, the locally sourced ingredients we use, the staff we carefully select and the consistently outstanding cuisine. We strive to deliver a first-class dining experience for every guest at each of our properties. To have this recognised in the form of an AA Rosette for Ciro's Brasserie and now The Bear's Paw is fantastic indeed. These accolades join the AA dining award, which is held by The Pheasant Inn, and further enhances the reputation of Nelson Hotels as a provider of some of the finest food Cheshire has to offer. Thanks go to the entire team who worked so hard to secure this award."
Under the long established AA Rosette scheme, an AA Rosette restaurant achieves standards that stand out in their local area. They serve food prepared with care, understanding and skill, using good quality ingredients, and guests can eat in with confidence and a sense of anticipation. Only 10% of restaurants in the UK are worthy of a single AA Rosette, a high accolade indeed.
Ideally located between the major market towns of Sandbach, Middlewich and Crewe, The Bear's Paw attracts a discerning clientele who enjoy a broad array of dishes from Britain and abroad. The Bear's Paw menu is adapted to take advantage of the finest seasonal produce; all meals are lovingly prepared to order using the finest local ingredients, and are perfectly complemented by an extensive list of carefully chosen wines from around the world, and a choice of six real ales taking centre stage on the bar.

Currently available at The Bear's Paw is the sizzling Steak Stones; a dining experience which puts control in the hands of the diner who is served a seared raw fillet steak on a sizzling hot stone, accompanied by chunky hand cut chips and several delicious dipping sauces. The diner cuts and cooks each mouthful exactly to their liking – whether that is rare, medium or well done – whilst the steak rests on the stone without fear of overcooking.
