Know before you go
At The Bear’s Paw, we are committed to creating a warm and welcoming environment where every guest feels comfortable and accommodated to the very best of our abilities.
ACCESSIBILITY
We strive to ensure that our inn is as accessible as possible. Our team can assist as required with entry, seating and movement through the inn.
Due to the historic nature of the inn’s buildings and their structure, there are some limitations in accessibility to select areas of our accommodation. Our inn does not have lift access within to access upper floors.
GETTING HERE
You can access directions to our inn here.
PARKING
The inn has a large on-site car park at the rear of the property with marked disabled parking bays located at the front of the building, closer to the inn’s main entrance.
ENTRANCE
The approach to the front of the inn is level with stepless entry. If approaching from the rear car park, guests will encounter level paved entry before a small set of wide stairs (4 steps) to enter to the restaurant reception.
The check-in area for both overnight and restaurant guests is situated by a desk directly in front of the main building’s interior entrance. This is a wide and well-lit, and seating can be provided for the comfort of guests waiting in this area on request.
RESTAURANT AREA
In many areas of the restaurant, tables and chairs can be rearranged to accommodate wheelchair users who prefer not to transfer, or to accommodate the placement of mobility aids. Windows and lighting throughout the restaurant ensure that the spaces are well-lit, although some lower-level lighting is in use during the evenings to preserve the ambiance of the space. Our team can situate guests within better-lit areas upon request, subject to availability.
Due to the layout and space of the inn, during busy periods the pub and restaurant area can experience increased noise levels within. The restaurant comprises several different rooms/areas, so should you wish to be situated in a quieter space, please inform our team and we will endeavour to accommodate your request.
DINING/MENUS
All menus, including our kids menu, can be viewed here.
If you have a special dietary requirement or allergy, please inform our team upon making your reservation and upon dining with us. We will endeavour to cater to your needs and provide guidance on accommodating your requirements.
Our menus are labelled with the following markers to indicate options suitable for varied dietary requirements, including vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free.
(v) vegetarian (vg) vegan (vgo) vegan option available (gfo) gluten-free option available
Full information on allergens present in our menu (12 major allergen groups) is available on request. All of our food is freshly prepared in a kitchen where nuts, gluten and other allergens are present. Although we cannot guarantee the total absence of allergens due to this environment, our kitchen team is well-equipped to cater for guests with allergies due to the availability of separate preparation areas and utensils.
ACCOMMODATION
Due to the historic nature of the building, we unfortunately cannot offer ground level accommodation. The building is not equipped with lift access. All rooms are located in the main inn building. Should you require a room closer to the stairs access to the restaurant area, please inform our team in advance and we will endeavour to accommodate this where possible.
BATHROOM FACILITIES
The main inn building has male and female WC facilities. An accessible WC is situated to the left of the reception/check-in desk and is equipped with grab rails and additional space.
EXTERIOR AREAS
We have outdoor seating at the front of the inn, situated on grass. Some areas may have uneven ground due to the rural setting. Our team will be glad to advise and assist on access where required.
DOG-FRIENDLY
Our inn is proud to be dog-friendly, and dogs are welcome to relax in the gastropub and rooms. Registered guide dogs and assistance dogs are, of course, also welcome in all areas of the inn.
EMERGENCY PROCEDURES
In the event of an emergency, our team will assist guests with evacuation if required. Please inform reception on arrival if you may need additional support in extenuating circumstances.
INCLUSIVITY
The Bear’s Paw is an inclusive venue that welcomes guests from all backgrounds and communities, and we are committed to fostering a safe, welcoming and supportive environment where everyone is welcome.
In accordance with the Equality Act 2010, we do not tolerate discrimination on the basis of age, disability, gender, sexual orientation, race, religion or belief. Guests and team members alike have the right to a safe and respectful environment.
